ABOUT US

Mission:

Our Lady Maternal Care Inc. stands with the Pro-Life mission – that is “To defend life and family” and aim to promote the health of mothers and their babies through targeted assessments of pregnant women, and to help facilitate early detection of complications and other potential problems that can affect the outcomes of pregnancy.

OLMC aims to provide health services, education, and counseling services, nutrition education and nutrition to pregnant women, nursing mothers, and children in the surrounding rural areas of Ghana, and to ensure that women in the rural areas of Ghana have access to information and care needed to go through pregnancy and childbirth safely, create real changes and build healthy families. No woman should die giving life.

Our Lady Maternal Care Inc. also allows the underprivileged women to pick up skills of their choices, trains them, and help them to acquire their own professions to be self-sufficient, to help themselves and their family.

Challenge:

Every mother and baby is subject to the risks of pregnancy, labor and delivery. However, the risks in less developed countries such as Ghana are higher.

The situation in Ghana is severe with institutional maternal mortality rate of 319 per 100,000 live births. As population and access to information increases, so does the demand for pre-natal health services. Many people who genuinely require these services do not have regular access to them.

In Ghana, women are most vulnerable to common and preventable causes of maternal morbidity and mortality due to poverty and lack of access to antenatal health care.

Access to health services is therefore essential for improving socioeconomic development.
